 Sign of Spring 
Freya Julie.jpg (16661 bytes)Today, Wednesday January 15th., Freya brought in some daffodils to the school.  She gave a daffodil to each teacher to remind us that Spring is on the way!!



Competition Winner
Well done to Lauren from third who was a winner in the Waterford harbour art Lauren.jpg (38386 bytes)competition.  Lauren was accompanied by her teacher, Mrs. Hally to the prize ceremony.  They were taken on a tour of the newly launched ship in Waterford harbour, courtesy of Norfolk lines.


Welcome Back
A very special welcome back to Mrs. Boylan, who has returned to the school from maternity leave.

 Christmas Raffle
There was great excitement for the Parents Council Christmas Raffle.  Hayley drew the winning ticket, and the winner was Jaimie from Junior Infants.  He was jamieJI.jpg (70182 bytes)presented with his lovely musical Santa decoration, which will sound lovely early Christmas morning.



Under-10 football

oct_footballers.jpg (39244 bytes)Well done to our under-10 footballers who won the under-10 football final.  The boys  defeated Killea, Gaelscoil Trámhór, and Ballyduff on the way to the final. In the final they defeated Killea.

New Appointments 2002
I am delighted to welcome Ms. Elaine Doris to the staff of our school.  Elaine has taught in Portarlington and prior to that spent several years in America.  I have no doubt that Elaine will be a very valuable member of staff and will contribute greatly to the school.
Welcome also to Ms. Caroline Ho who has joined the staff as temporary teacher for Mrs Phelan.

INTO Handwriting Competition
Congratulations to four of our pupils who were prize winners in the INTO handwriting competition.  The standard in the school was very high and our entries went on to the Waterford area.  The following are the prize winners
Category 1:  3rd place  Shannen Cullinane ( Senior Infants )
Category 2:  1st place   Lauren Scanlon   ( Second Class )
Category 4:  1st place   Ruth Kelleher  ( Fifth Class )
                   2nd place  Dervla Walsh  ( Sixth Class )

Presentations were held in the Tower Hotel, Waterford.
Thanks to Miss McCarthy who organised the school handwriting competition.
