We have Energy Wardens on a rota who check the energy and water  use around the school

Rainwater collection

6th class with help from Francie the caretaker.

We have placed a barrel under a drainpipe to collect rainwater that will be used for gardening and in paperlog production.

Arts and Crafts

We created a Water Noticeboard and update it regularly. We also created our mascot Wally Water! We have a Water for Life and Water Cycle display. 6th class produced an enlarged map of the river Suir and its tributaries.

Our Science week this year will involve experiments on the properties of water eg. Evaporation, condensation, materials that are water soluble etc.

We have contacted our local councillor who came to the school to speak to us about the local water supply

We are in the process of contacting the council to check what dosage of treatment is added to our water source. We also wish to visit the local pump house.

The River Suir and its tributaries with special emphasis on The Clodaigh.

Compost made and placed in the school gardens. Keeps moisture in plants and so saves watering

Lawnmower

Ensure blades on lawnmower are sharp to give clean cut to grass which reduces amount of moisture needed

Display the Top Ten Water Tips around the school
